Does Head Massage Help Migraines? On Headaches and Neck Tension
Migraines and tension headaches are among the top reasons clients come to us. Here is an honest account of what head massage can and cannot do for them.

An honest boundary first
Head massage is not a medical treatment. It does not cure migraines, replace medication or provide a diagnosis. If you have chronic migraines, see a doctor first.
We say this upfront because exaggerated claims are common in this field. What we offer is a complementary relaxation practice — and most of our clients report reduced tension and milder pain.
What happens in tension headaches
One of the most common causes of tension headache is chronic contraction in the neck, nape and shoulder muscles. Sitting hunched at a screen, clenching the jaw, stress — it all accumulates in that area.
During a head massage, working the pressure points at the temples, nape and shoulders releases that muscular tension. Supporting circulation and shifting the body into rest mode pulls back one of the pain triggers.
As our client Nesrin put it in her Google review: “I arrived with a stiff neck and very tense. After the treatment I was completely relaxed.”
Why it may help with migraines
Migraine is a complex neurological condition and its triggers vary from person to person. However, stress and disrupted sleep are among the most frequently reported triggers.
Head massage has an indirect effect on both: the session supports the parasympathetic nervous system, the body shifts into rest mode, and sleep quality improves. So the massage does not treat migraine; it eases some of the conditions that trigger it.
Massage is not advised during an attack. It is better understood as a preventive routine once the pain has passed.
Who should avoid it
Consult your doctor before booking if any of the following apply:
• Sudden headache of unusual severity
• Open wounds, eczema or active infection on the scalp
• Recent neck or head trauma
• Uncontrolled high blood pressure
• First trimester of pregnancy
We confirm these in a short conversation before your appointment. If we judge it unsuitable, we do not proceed — we are not flexible on this.
The session and booking
Our Signature Head Massage runs 50–60 minutes and works the head, neck and shoulders together. It costs 1,500 TL.
For tension-related complaints a single session brings relief, but lasting change needs regular visits. That is exactly why our three-session package (3,500 TL) exists.
We take appointments seven days a week, 10:00–22:00, at our Bayrakli studio. Evening slots are the most requested by people who want to release the day's tension the same day.
